Case File 001 - Meeting a New Friend

Case 001.jpeg

No meetings are coincidences; they are meant to impart a lesson or fulfil an agreement made before birth.

Recently, I have been meeting a lot of people and strangers in my life which I termed 'Case Files'.

Why is that so?. They all have something that either I am currently working on for myself or they just needed the right person at the right time to appear in their life.

I met someone who is HIV positive. Fearing that I may reject our new friendship, he hid it from me during our 1st meeting. I did sense that he was holding something back, but I chose to let him tell me when he is ready.

After the meet-up, he sent me a text about his condition, and told me he would understand if I wanted to delete his contact altogether. I responded by telling him that he was not my first HIV case and I am more than willing to be his friend.

Fear: most of us are affected by merely mentioning its forms, be it spiders, height, diseases, death, etc. But if we were to understand its true function, it is just an alarm clock telling us to deal with this self-manifested emotional drama in our lives.

Back to the case: last weekend, I invited him over for a meal and we talked about his expectations and worries.

He found it hard to communicate his condition openly to people around him. Although he has tons of friends, none knew about his condition.

I surprised him by giving him a hug. This was something that meant a lot to a person who had been diagnosed with HIV.

Guided by my intuition, I told him that it is alright, and he will be cured eventually and find someone who will love him for who he is. At that moment, I could feel his sense of relief. His arms tightened around me.

In that moment, I could feel him wanting to believe in my words and let go of his doubts and fears.

Although it was brief, it was enough for me to plant a seed of hope in his heart. Today, I chanced upon this article, which I shared with him in a text: HIV BREAKTHROUGH! – Spain Finds Cure (dated Tuesday, July 28, 2015)

From this case file, I have learnt a lot.

Miracles do happen when you believe from your heart. All we need to do is to look for it, expect it to happen and have faith that all is well, and then let it go.
